Ikebana is the art of beautifully arranging cut stems, leaves and flowers in vases and other containers that evolved in Japan over seven centuries..
This piece took 9 weeks to make, from start to finish. Barely fitting my kiln.. And while making, I always wonder where the piece will go and how it will be used. As a serving bowl, a fruit bowl, or as art on itself - being a centrepiece.
Measures 48cm × 11-14cm x 9cm /
18.9" x 4.3"-5.5" × 3.5"
What I love about larger pieces is that I can really allow myself to be taken away by the piece. As it takes longer, I feel more connected to it, as it feels as if we are together in the process of creation. And now I dare to say that I can proudly share this creation with you.
Hope you enjoy this piece as much as I do.
With love,
Kari
Please take a close look at the pictures. You will find that there is cracquele on certain parts. These a superficial minuscule cracks in the glaze that are the result of tension between the curved clay body and the effect glaze. It is not an error, the glaze is perfect and supposed to behave this way on large surfaces.
Only one available, this is a true one-off piece.
